At 12pm on Friday, we left Toronto in our rented Pontiac Grand Prix, traveling into the wild beyond, with nothing but two suitcases between us. We headed for Sarnia and the border between Canada and America making good time... right up until we encountered some serious 'border traffic', about two hours of it, argh!
Colin managed a clean entry into the US this time, with his new Canadian citizenship, eh? We trucked on through Flint, Lansing, Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor, MI. Then completely exhausted, we finished up a solid day of driving in Michigan City, Indiana. A necessary and rather boring day of travel, but it was good to put those kilometres (er, I mean miles) behind us - Zzzzzz in a big way!
We woke up the next morning and made our way into Chicago. The day was splendid with the sun shining, the traffic flowing and the wind blowing exuberantly. Straight onto the tour bus to sit through a crash course in the best sights Chicago has to offer. We were both impressed - Chicago is a really beautiful city! Whether you are hanging out at Navy Pier, or Segwaying around the water front, it's definitely a place to put on your list as a must see. I just hope that we didn't get too much sun! We finished up some lunch and headed for Des Moines, Iowa.
